Optical Characteristics of Metasurfaces at Meta-Atom Anapole

چکیده
Optical characteristics of square-latticed metasurfaces are analyzed by equations derived from a dipole-quadrupole system. For the metasurface composed Si nanospheres, meta-atoms maintain anapole single scatterer, which not affected lattice period. The far-field response thus can be engineered without significantly disturbing near-fields in meta-atoms. In addition, as exhibited with Ag/Si core-shell transmittance at also modulated and even nulled shifting magnetic dipole quadrupole resonances. small-period metasurface, near-field interaction adjacent manipulates resonance behavior, leading to significant modulation anapole.

Random-phase metasurfaces at optical wavelengths
Random-phase metasurfaces, in which the constituents scatter light with random phases, have the property that an incident plane wave will diffusely scatter, hereby leading to a complex far-field response that is most suitably described by statistical means. In this work, we present and exemplify the statistical description of the far-field response, particularly highlighting how the response fo...
متن کاملOptical meta-atom for localization of light with quantized energy
The capacity to confine light into a small region of space is of paramount importance in many areas of modern science. Here we suggest a mechanism to store a quantized 'bit' of light--with a very precise amount of energy--in an open core-shell plasmonic structure ('meta-atom') with a nonlinear optical response. Notwithstanding the trapped light state is embedded in the radiation continuum, its ...
متن کاملSpecular optical activity of achiral metasurfaces
Optical activity in 3D-chiral media in the form of circular dichroism and birefringence is a fundamental phenomenon that serves as evidence of life forms and is widely used in spectroscopy. Even in 3D-chiral media exhibiting strong transmission optical activity, the reflective effect is weak and sometimes undetectable. Here we report that specular optical activity at structured interfaces can b...
متن کاملOptical metasurfaces: from planar to conformable optics
Abrupt modifications of the fields across an interface can be engineered by depositing an array of subwavelength resonators specifically tailored to address local amplitude, phase and polarization changes [1]. Physically, ultrathin nanostructure arrays, called “metasurfaces”, control light by engineering artificial boundary conditions of Maxwell’s equations. Metasurfaces have been implemented t...
متن کاملOptical metasurfaces for polarization-controlled beam shaping.
We have developed multifunctional optical beam shapers based on plasmonic metasurfaces. The metasurfaces are composed of subwavelength-spaced polarization- and wavelength-selective optical nanoantennas that allow encoding several beam shapers on a single element. We demonstrate numerically and experimentally beam shapers that can be used to switch between arbitrary beam shapes. We specifically ...
